These peshtemals are by Lüks who work with master weavers and family ateliers in the historical textile heartlands of Denizli and Hatay in Turkey. The peshtemal is a traditional piece of cloth that has many uses. It can be worn as a scarf or wrap, used as a throw on the back of a sofa or is particularly useful as a lightweight towel.
These peshtemals are traditionally loomed and the fringing is all finished by hand.
We advise that they are washed before use - they are machine washable at 30 degrees and we recommend air drying instead of tumble drying. If you don't like a slightly crumpled fabric they can be ironed on a high heat. The peshtemal will get softer and softer with use and laundering - the washing process releases natural starch from the cotton fabric and relaxes the yarn.
